Mom was getting ready to 'go bye-bye' and Googie and I took our usual spots on her bed as she was still in the small room doing things.
I was in all my snoozing glory, one paw extended and stretched out, my eyes closed and feeling as comfy as ever.
And then I slowly became aware that mom had walked over to me but I really didn't pay too much attention. I figured she just wanted to say 'bye-bye' or something, nothing seemed out of order. So I continued to snooze ...but then? Then I smelled something funny.
This made me open up my eyes for real. And what do I see right by my nose? That glop.
It was so close to my face, I practically turned crosseyed trying to look at it. I held my face frozen in this upward position, holding my chin up in defiance to mom while my eyes fixated down toward my nose - or the glop.
What do I do??? Nothing, I decided. Mom was beginning to whisper that it was 'okay' and to 'go ahead' so I just decided not to disturb my morning lounge. I just began to lick away, however distasteful it was, until it was gone.
DANG! After all was said and done, I just had to get out of that bed, anyway... And Googie didn't even bat an eye, he had no clue.
