Well, tonight's 'outing' did not work out too well.
Mom let me out of my room and it seemed I was all free to go wherever. She went 'downstairs' so I took her cue. But I had to do my thorough check of the whole place and I was compelled to go all the way "downstairs".
I returned at the call of the dinner bell, so to speak. I couldn't really eat too much, I was too curious and excited to retake control of the house. So I started to gallop away from the dinner bowls where Googie was at with me. Googie always likes to chase me so we ran together furiously and he egged me on to pretty much fly down the stairs.
"Eeeehhhhhhh!!!! ", I heard mom scream. She came barreling down the steps and we both froze in our places, looking up at her.
"You are NOT supposed to run like this! And YOU - are not supposed to chase her!" she yelled at Googie. Googie didn't know what to do, it takes him a while to figure out that he's in real trouble. So he quickly looked to the left, looked to the right, tried to get a sense of himself and finally,
"YES! YOU.. ! YOU go OUT! Upstairs!"
He ran back up the steps. I stood there, under the daybed, playing chicken with mom. I knew she couldn't reach for me.
Eventually, well.. it really took a couple of minutes, I came back up to where she was. Tried to be as nonchalant as possible while she repeated the riot act at us. But I couldn't.. I had all this energy and something was tempting me, pushing me to run back up the steps, especially with Googie standing nearby, waiting to see my next move, and mom warning me not to do it.
I made a run for it, Googie right behind me and mom at the tail end, screaming at us.
Aisn't no good. I made a run back to my room.. The same room she has kept me in all week long. This was a losing battle.
So she turned on the light. "Good move. That was definitely a GOOD MOVE on your part", she said in an even tone.
I took the extra step and actually climbed up the bed and settled down. I knew that door would close behind her.
[One more night... we got for suture removal tomorrow.]
