PRINCESS's STORY

"The Princess Diaries" began about fourteen years ago as emails to cat loving friends. They were stories about Princess's diary, a tabby cat who was born in 1989 when I rescued her. She was about four months old. She was in tune with everything I did or even think, she always amazed me so much, I just had to write about her. After nineteen years with me, she
went to the Rainbow Bridge in August of 2008.

The house felt painfully empty after her passing. But I vowed never to replace her. In my heart, she was irreplaceable.
And then I started to see her in my dreams. Suddenly, I remembered one morning that I had seen her back in her healthy form and I was told "she is ready now". I was not sure what that really meant.

Just a couple of days later, I was led to a pet psychic by other people at an Expo event. It was an unplanned, spontaneous occurrence, I had not thought about visiting a pet psychic and did not even have a picture of her that they could use.
Princess' spirit came through the pet psychic who repeated those same words I had heard in the dream: "She is ready" .... to be born again.

How would I find her? How? She said it would be "like a Petsmart, one of those places".

I took it in stride. I still did not want to replace her with any other cat. One day, about 2 months later, I found myself suddenly making a turn off the main road into a Petco I never go to, away from my area. I felt compelled to go in even though I had no other cats to care for. I spotted an adoption fair poster in there... and I heard clearly in my heart and mind the thought that 'you've got to follow up on this - don't let it go'. I did.

I returned for the adoption fair and as I entered, I began to feel like I was in a trance.. I kept looking in cages but could not "feel it". Finally, I came to the end of the cage line and I stood motionless, staring at this tiny tabby baby sleeping on top of a larger orange fluffy kitten. She was less than 2 months old. As I stood there, contemplating my feelings, the orange kitten stood up and came to the front of the cage, reaching out to me with his paw... He let out a meow at me as he saw me take a few steps away, mulling this sight over in my mind. I turned to see this kitten holding out his paw at me, literally meowing for me to come back...

When Princess II came home with Gabriel, she was barely 2 months old. And she knew. She knew all the old tricks and phrases - and she wanted to show me exactly what she knew.
She was born in the same type of body, a tabby.

I could not tell while she was a tiny baby but she grew to have the same type of bow-legged look to her hind legs. She also carried the same fear. Princess was fearful of the scrunchy sound of plastic or paper bags all throughout her life with me, it may have been something that had happened to her in her first 4 months of life before I rescued her. She also had a herniated belly when I found her in 1989. Now this new kitten, as she grew, had a slight protruding feel on the same spot of her belly, although vets did not detect anything 'wrong' with it.

To this day, the new Princess is still fearful of scrunchy bag sounds while no other cat in the household is.
"It's time for beddie bye now", I said when she returned to the house as a two-month old - and on cue, she climbed up the stairs immediately and looked down at me from upstairs for my reaction. I was just floored ...this little kitten responded to a phrase she never heard of before. "Wanna get some 'nummy-num'?" - Yes! She ran to the bowls. This was her first time as a new kitten in the house.

It was a miracle - and we are still living it. It has been now been over 8 years later now since her new incarnation.

A Quiet Dinner

LITTLE GETTY'S WORLD:

"I took my dinner with miss Bella tonite. We had a quiet dinner together, our bowls side by side. I was hungry but I had to wait for everyone else to leave ...Daddy shares his bowl with me but then mom lady gets too close and I scurry off.

So I waited and felt just as safe to be with miss Bella. So I approached and she nodded at me:
"Come on up, missy.. Let's have dinner together, it's okay. ", she reassured me. "There are plenty of leftovers for both of us; I'm on my thirds already anyway, you can have the other bowl."

So I dug in, facing her. See, she's like my big aunt. She and I go back a ways together, she was in the other moving box when I first met mom lady, we came together. And she scolded me when I was hissing at mom lady, she was really angry at me for acting like that; she's taught me things. She and Daddy. "

Wayward Little Minxes

GOOGIE'S GRITS:
"Ah have ONE rule.. And one rule only:
You do nawt jump and roll on tha big scratch post thang WITHOUT mah permission. AH am the keeper of the scratch post thang, even though Ah nevah use it as suuuch, eet eez a coveted object lake our pack's "monoleeeth" which AH feel eet needs to be protected and guarded - at AWL tames. [and most probably because it is a phallic stick covered by carpet shooting up in da air!! ]

And therefawre, AH ain't gonna let the likes of wayward minxes like Katie Kitty saunter up and roll all ovah it without getting my express blessing and approval first.

Stuck But Grateful

BELLA:
"I got stuck inside the small room overnight.. Dang it, I kept scratching on the door and mom never came. Until this morning when I heard her come out of her room. She started greeting everybody, they were gathered around the closed door, Baby my recruit, and them.

Soon as I came out, I decided I would do the right thing: I walked up to miss Princess who was nearby the door, and thanked her. Yes, I did. I nose tipped her as gently as I could. I sniffed her face and neck to make sure all was right.

"It's okay, Bella.. You don't need to thank me", she politely looked at me without a flinch, without a hiss.
"I do, I'm glad you're okay, I'm glad I'M okay, I'm glad we're ALL okay.... ANYthing could have happened while I was stuck in there for so long. "

I then proceeded to mark every corner around there with my chin and cheerfully look up at mom and follow her as if nothing had happened. "

Equal Opportunity Effort

DEPUTY BABY G:

"Daddy went up to mom and shmoozed with her, I suddenly noticed them together and she's stroking him and paying attention to him and eberything...And here I was, trying to play with my toy but it wouldn't move. So I walked up to them and stood side by side with Daddy, looking up at mom and edging in for some attention of my own.

I was unsatisfied...I walked back to my toy and started to meow my complaints back at mom. "

A Teasing Tail

LITTLE GETTY'S WORLD: "TEASING TAIL"

"I thought it was time to break out of the shadows and venture ahead!

Yes! I could no longer resist that tail swinging in mid air, tempting me and all my instincts. I broke out of my shell and charged toward mom lady and the teasing tail! She swung it against my face and I stepped up and reached for it against my back legs, exposing all I had to mom lady.

I broke my own rule: I would not even touch anything that mom lady was touching at the other end. As long as her paw was on it, it was not safe. But this tail thing, this furry prey was just too much to overlook and ignore. Mom lady continued to swing it up to my face and I played ball as they say - I stepped up to the game with her.

And every once in a while, I would retreat back under the chair but that tail would tempt and tease me all over again and I could not resist but thrash out and vie to conquer it.

It was safe to play."

A Light In The Darkness

KATIE KITTY'S KAHOOTS:

"I've been keeping vigil tonight on top of the couch, looking out the window waiting for mom to return. I told big Bella to forget about it, this was MY turn, it was MY job and MY duty and I don't care if she stays up there, I scooted her out of the way.

I kept vigil until the bitter end. Until the light shone through the darkness down there, and I ducked under the blinds and stuck my face on the window to make sure: YES!! She's back!! I would get to announce it now to everypawdy else! And take charge.

By the time she opened the door we had all gathered downstairs to greet her. So what if big Bella was closest to the door.. "

Stick With Me Kid

LITTLE GETTY'S WORLD:

"I sought refuge up at mom lady's room when she woke up this morning.
See, I have had another pep talk with my soul-sister, miss Pipi. I took my troubles to her and pleaded my case, how I get harangued and chased by that kook, Katie.

So Pipi told me: "Stick with me and we'll go up to mom's room when she wakes up and opens the door. Remember, mom does stop her from bothering you, haven't you noticed that? So come with me, I'll be by your side and then Katie won't be able to get to you; she can't, not in front of mom. "

So I took miss Pipi's advice and followed her this morning up to mom lady's room. We stood side by side outside mom lady's 'bathroom' as we watched her get ready..

I got up there first too, and walked right in mom lady's space sniffing about and sticking my neck out behind her. I wanted to explore kook-Katie's toy in there, I had heard about that too.. how Katie goes in there and kicks around stuff and chases it all over the floor.. So I stuck my nose on it to see what I was missing."
