PRINCESS's STORY

"The Princess Diaries" began about fourteen years ago as emails to cat loving friends. They were stories about Princess's diary, a tabby cat who was born in 1989 when I rescued her. She was about four months old. She was in tune with everything I did or even think, she always amazed me so much, I just had to write about her. After nineteen years with me, she
went to the Rainbow Bridge in August of 2008.

The house felt painfully empty after her passing. But I vowed never to replace her. In my heart, she was irreplaceable.
And then I started to see her in my dreams. Suddenly, I remembered one morning that I had seen her back in her healthy form and I was told "she is ready now". I was not sure what that really meant.

Just a couple of days later, I was led to a pet psychic by other people at an Expo event. It was an unplanned, spontaneous occurrence, I had not thought about visiting a pet psychic and did not even have a picture of her that they could use.
Princess' spirit came through the pet psychic who repeated those same words I had heard in the dream: "She is ready" .... to be born again.

How would I find her? How? She said it would be "like a Petsmart, one of those places".

I took it in stride. I still did not want to replace her with any other cat. One day, about 2 months later, I found myself suddenly making a turn off the main road into a Petco I never go to, away from my area. I felt compelled to go in even though I had no other cats to care for. I spotted an adoption fair poster in there... and I heard clearly in my heart and mind the thought that 'you've got to follow up on this - don't let it go'. I did.

I returned for the adoption fair and as I entered, I began to feel like I was in a trance.. I kept looking in cages but could not "feel it". Finally, I came to the end of the cage line and I stood motionless, staring at this tiny tabby baby sleeping on top of a larger orange fluffy kitten. She was less than 2 months old. As I stood there, contemplating my feelings, the orange kitten stood up and came to the front of the cage, reaching out to me with his paw... He let out a meow at me as he saw me take a few steps away, mulling this sight over in my mind. I turned to see this kitten holding out his paw at me, literally meowing for me to come back...

When Princess II came home with Gabriel, she was barely 2 months old. And she knew. She knew all the old tricks and phrases - and she wanted to show me exactly what she knew.
She was born in the same type of body, a tabby.

I could not tell while she was a tiny baby but she grew to have the same type of bow-legged look to her hind legs. She also carried the same fear. Princess was fearful of the scrunchy sound of plastic or paper bags all throughout her life with me, it may have been something that had happened to her in her first 4 months of life before I rescued her. She also had a herniated belly when I found her in 1989. Now this new kitten, as she grew, had a slight protruding feel on the same spot of her belly, although vets did not detect anything 'wrong' with it.

To this day, the new Princess is still fearful of scrunchy bag sounds while no other cat in the household is.
"It's time for beddie bye now", I said when she returned to the house as a two-month old - and on cue, she climbed up the stairs immediately and looked down at me from upstairs for my reaction. I was just floored ...this little kitten responded to a phrase she never heard of before. "Wanna get some 'nummy-num'?" - Yes! She ran to the bowls. This was her first time as a new kitten in the house.

It was a miracle - and we are still living it. It has been now been over 8 years later now since her new incarnation.

Ain't Gonna Stand For Deees

BABY G:

"Grandma Bella can be a little tough on me - and I take it.   She slaps me sometimes cause I guess she don't wanna be fussed with.   But I draw the line when I see sometin' I don't like.

I was just going into the dining room when I watched grandma big Bella chase my friend, my sister, my ...new mommy you could say, miss Princess.   Miss Pipi and I .. we've done things together, we're really close and I love her.   And here I was now, seeing big Bella going after her, chasing her out of the room.

First, I sprinted over to miss Pipi to make sure she was allright, leanin' toward her and all.  And then I sprang into action in the opposite direction:  I rushed over to grandma big Bella and stood right in her face.   I raised my shoulders and stretched my neck, slightly twisting it into an angle:

"Don't you chase my love!! ", I threatened.

She backed down, shriveled into half her size and leaned backwards and scooted down close to the floor, her ears flattened as she hissed "Stop it! you little boor, have you no respect? ".

She took a couple of gulps after that, licking her chops and waiting for me to leave.   I guess I really did  upset her.  But I HAD to stand up for my Princess!! "

Making A U-Turn

SUFFERING SUCCOTASH!

Practically the moment I retire upstairs to her bed to get some peace, and she goes "I'm gonna go bye-bye but I'll be back" and brings back new noms - AND clean litter!

...So now I had to jump back down and join the party. Ain't gonna miss on a full box of clean
litter if you know what I mean, I've been waitin' all day to do it right. "

My Weak Side

PIPI'S POINT:

"Mom discovered my weak spots up on my face, the red scratches. And before I could escape in dignity, she scooped me right up and plopped me on her lap to take a closer look.

It was so embarrassing... I shrunk my right ear down and pulled myself tight so she wouldn't see my scabs..

"Who did this to you? ", she asked softly. I'LL never tell.

"Please mom!! Leave me be!", I squealed plaintively.

And then BABY came running to see if I was okay as she put me back down on the floor.

"You okay, my love? ", he stretched his neck toward me and offered a nose tip. "It's okay, baby.... it's nothing", I dismissed it with a quick nod back.

"Well... give me some licking then, please? " , he begged with his head down under my chin. So I reassured him with some kisses. "

Unseated In A Huff

BIG BELLA'S BEEF:

"I REALLY resent it when she comes at me out of nowhere and tells me:

"this is MY seat!".

I refuse to move at first, and then she tries to cajole me, tapping me on the butt, just where I hate it the most... And we have an impasse where I let out a whine-and-a-bitching meow - and finally jump down all pissed off.

I hate it when I have to volunteer on something I never wanted to DO in the first place. "

Aggressive Females

GOOGIE'S GRITS

"Ah sometames have to put up with some really aggressive females. There Ah was, in my deep snooze this afternoon, Ah had found me a new spot near mom's new area. Manding mah own business. When little Getty finds me and plops right up on me.

Well Ah declare, AH had to sheeft and try to avoid her smothering me when suddenly? She done grab me bah mah cheek, rendered me hostage to sit steel.

Ah took it... Ah surrendered in mah groggy state and let her have her way with me while Ah layed there helpless, unable to move.

Momma done not like that though. She eenterveened on mah behalf and sent Getty scrambling outta the room. "

Snuggle Interrupted

LITTLE GETTY'S WORLD

"I had a good long snuggle time with Daddy overnight into the morning... We snuggled on the chair upstairs and all was right in my world.  And then?  Then he had to go up to mom lady's room and I bravely followed him...  I walked in after a few, I had already lost sight of him and my tail was half way down.  And then I came face to face with that shrew, Katie-kook.  She actually lifted her head up from her snooze just to throw the daggers at me.   She zapped me with her krazy eyes and it made me turn on my paw and leave..  Deflated, I dragged my tail behind.

And then I started crying all by myself, calling for Daddy.  But Daddy never came..."

Big Bella: BUSTED - Or, "I Take My Lumps!"

"I got busted tonight. Had to face the music. Eat crow.

Tolerated mom thumping her finger on my head as I grinned-and-bore it. Yeah, I guess I deserved it - so I just stood there and let her bounce her finger off of me.

You see, I got riled up with that miss Priss. She looked at me funny. So I charged her and I cornered her. And while I had her up against the wall, I threw my paw-punches toward her... well, it was technically in air-punches - but that didn't make much difference to mom. It worked for me, though. I had that damn miss Priss crouching up against the wall and that was exactly my point. "
