PRINCESS's STORY

"The Princess Diaries" began about fourteen years ago as emails to cat loving friends. They were stories about Princess's diary, a tabby cat who was born in 1989 when I rescued her. She was about four months old. She was in tune with everything I did or even think, she always amazed me so much, I just had to write about her. After nineteen years with me, she
went to the Rainbow Bridge in August of 2008.

The house felt painfully empty after her passing. But I vowed never to replace her. In my heart, she was irreplaceable.
And then I started to see her in my dreams. Suddenly, I remembered one morning that I had seen her back in her healthy form and I was told "she is ready now". I was not sure what that really meant.

Just a couple of days later, I was led to a pet psychic by other people at an Expo event. It was an unplanned, spontaneous occurrence, I had not thought about visiting a pet psychic and did not even have a picture of her that they could use.
Princess' spirit came through the pet psychic who repeated those same words I had heard in the dream: "She is ready" .... to be born again.

How would I find her? How? She said it would be "like a Petsmart, one of those places".

I took it in stride. I still did not want to replace her with any other cat. One day, about 2 months later, I found myself suddenly making a turn off the main road into a Petco I never go to, away from my area. I felt compelled to go in even though I had no other cats to care for. I spotted an adoption fair poster in there... and I heard clearly in my heart and mind the thought that 'you've got to follow up on this - don't let it go'. I did.

I returned for the adoption fair and as I entered, I began to feel like I was in a trance.. I kept looking in cages but could not "feel it". Finally, I came to the end of the cage line and I stood motionless, staring at this tiny tabby baby sleeping on top of a larger orange fluffy kitten. She was less than 2 months old. As I stood there, contemplating my feelings, the orange kitten stood up and came to the front of the cage, reaching out to me with his paw... He let out a meow at me as he saw me take a few steps away, mulling this sight over in my mind. I turned to see this kitten holding out his paw at me, literally meowing for me to come back...

When Princess II came home with Gabriel, she was barely 2 months old. And she knew. She knew all the old tricks and phrases - and she wanted to show me exactly what she knew.
She was born in the same type of body, a tabby.

I could not tell while she was a tiny baby but she grew to have the same type of bow-legged look to her hind legs. She also carried the same fear. Princess was fearful of the scrunchy sound of plastic or paper bags all throughout her life with me, it may have been something that had happened to her in her first 4 months of life before I rescued her. She also had a herniated belly when I found her in 1989. Now this new kitten, as she grew, had a slight protruding feel on the same spot of her belly, although vets did not detect anything 'wrong' with it.

To this day, the new Princess is still fearful of scrunchy bag sounds while no other cat in the household is.
"It's time for beddie bye now", I said when she returned to the house as a two-month old - and on cue, she climbed up the stairs immediately and looked down at me from upstairs for my reaction. I was just floored ...this little kitten responded to a phrase she never heard of before. "Wanna get some 'nummy-num'?" - Yes! She ran to the bowls. This was her first time as a new kitten in the house.

It was a miracle - and we are still living it. It has been now been over 8 years later now since her new incarnation.

I'm A Hunter - And I Know How To Live

I go where nopawdy has gone before, no matter what they tell me not to DO! I tear up the paper towel in our poopoo room. And I jump up on mom's things in the forbidden zone and cop a feather for myself! I have a blast in that other 'bathroom' she never goes to, chasing my tail inside the big white empty box!!

I hang from that 'apron' thingy in the kitchen and swing with it up off the floor!

And I.. even have had the nerve to tear off one of those shiny crystal thingies off of the lights ... in the dining room... It was hanging and beckoning to me, and it was MINE to TAKE!! No matter how much the others cautioned me not to ever go there!

And in turn, I have broken barriers in this pack - I speak and play with Bella. I am in nose-tip terms with her when nobody else has been. I play tag-team with her when mom throws us the string, and I take over her duties. !

So I deserve the perks. Like the paper towel shredding and copping of crystal pieces hanging in the air! Ah-huh!!! "

The Only One Who Could Ever Reach Me

BABY G: "I'm the only one who can reach miss Bella.

Yes I am, yes I am.. I can walk right up to her and have a long nose-tip conversation with her, right there in the kitchen. Even during the time when she is waiting for her noms. I go check on her and she responds, she tales me all her doubts and hesitations.

I AM the only one who can do this in the whole pack. "

Not So Remote

PIPI'S POINT:

"It was important to me to lay by mom's side - WITH the "remote" thingy right up to my nose. When she tried to take it away, I minded. Cause that thingy? she touches it all the time. So I need to be close to it too. "

Stepping Up

BABY G: "I'LL STEP UP!! "

I watched mommy go near miss Getty, where she was trying to hide under the table again.. And mommy was begging her:

"Can you give me a kiss-kiss??", and she was holding out her hand to her. Getty wasn't moving, she kept staring at mommy.

So I jumped up on the chair to meet mommy's hand. I stepped up to give her that "kiss-kiss" she wanted, and nosetipped her.

Tails UP!!! "

Who Is The Boss?!

BELLA'S BEEF:

"We were down there me and Baby, and mom.  I like to follow her whenever I catch wind of her going to the "downstairs".  So Baby follows ME.  We like to tag team each other down there cause mom starts to play with both of us, she throws that string and we chase it around.  I am the primary player - and I never let Baby forget it.  But we're a tag team.  He will go far.  With my teachings.  But first he's got to learn who's boss so I slap him around a little if he gets too close and tries to run roughshod over me.

So tonight, he was leaning and stretching and I decided to go sniff his butt.   The little brat turned and threw a paw at me!  Well this was a fine time to remind him WHO's boss!

"You just simmer down, young man!", I dove deep into his belly and started to nip him here and there and everywhere.   I worked my way up to his chest holding his little shoulders with both my paws.  "Nope, nope, NOPE!  I am on TOP!  You got that?!!!"

He straightened out, stepped away without any more argument.   I made my point clear.  "

Don't Remind Me!

BELLA'S BEEF:

I had a bad fight with Googie tonight.  He came at me out of nowhere, he had a bug up his butt again it turned out.   I was minding my own business in the kitchen when I heard mom say the "scratch post" words at him... so I figured he got told what to do.  We both don't like it, I know I don't.

It was a fight I would rather forget.. his claw got stuck on my side and I panicked and scream holy hell.  Mom came to my defense and then his claw finally got unstuck.  She looked after me, we got served our dinner later and I retreated to the 'downstairs' with Baby - he wanted to keep me company.  So mom comes down the steps and sees me; I got up and walked up the steps to her, purring.  I licked her hand as she kept talking to me, she was telling me I could stay down there if I wanted to and such things... She was still trying to make me feel better and I kept purring.

And then she mentioned HIM... "I still can't believe he did that to you...".   I growled at that.  I really did.  Just don't remind me!!  I want to forget!!!

I followed her the rest of the way up the steps as I saw the orange hood skulking nearby.  I completely ignored him and turned the corner.
