PRINCESS's STORY

"The Princess Diaries" began about fourteen years ago as emails to cat loving friends. They were stories about Princess's diary, a tabby cat who was born in 1989 when I rescued her. She was about four months old. She was in tune with everything I did or even think, she always amazed me so much, I just had to write about her. After nineteen years with me, she
went to the Rainbow Bridge in August of 2008.

The house felt painfully empty after her passing. But I vowed never to replace her. In my heart, she was irreplaceable.
And then I started to see her in my dreams. Suddenly, I remembered one morning that I had seen her back in her healthy form and I was told "she is ready now". I was not sure what that really meant.

Just a couple of days later, I was led to a pet psychic by other people at an Expo event. It was an unplanned, spontaneous occurrence, I had not thought about visiting a pet psychic and did not even have a picture of her that they could use.
Princess' spirit came through the pet psychic who repeated those same words I had heard in the dream: "She is ready" .... to be born again.

How would I find her? How? She said it would be "like a Petsmart, one of those places".

I took it in stride. I still did not want to replace her with any other cat. One day, about 2 months later, I found myself suddenly making a turn off the main road into a Petco I never go to, away from my area. I felt compelled to go in even though I had no other cats to care for. I spotted an adoption fair poster in there... and I heard clearly in my heart and mind the thought that 'you've got to follow up on this - don't let it go'. I did.

I returned for the adoption fair and as I entered, I began to feel like I was in a trance.. I kept looking in cages but could not "feel it". Finally, I came to the end of the cage line and I stood motionless, staring at this tiny tabby baby sleeping on top of a larger orange fluffy kitten. She was less than 2 months old. As I stood there, contemplating my feelings, the orange kitten stood up and came to the front of the cage, reaching out to me with his paw... He let out a meow at me as he saw me take a few steps away, mulling this sight over in my mind. I turned to see this kitten holding out his paw at me, literally meowing for me to come back...

When Princess II came home with Gabriel, she was barely 2 months old. And she knew. She knew all the old tricks and phrases - and she wanted to show me exactly what she knew.
She was born in the same type of body, a tabby.

I could not tell while she was a tiny baby but she grew to have the same type of bow-legged look to her hind legs. She also carried the same fear. Princess was fearful of the scrunchy sound of plastic or paper bags all throughout her life with me, it may have been something that had happened to her in her first 4 months of life before I rescued her. She also had a herniated belly when I found her in 1989. Now this new kitten, as she grew, had a slight protruding feel on the same spot of her belly, although vets did not detect anything 'wrong' with it.

To this day, the new Princess is still fearful of scrunchy bag sounds while no other cat in the household is.
"It's time for beddie bye now", I said when she returned to the house as a two-month old - and on cue, she climbed up the stairs immediately and looked down at me from upstairs for my reaction. I was just floored ...this little kitten responded to a phrase she never heard of before. "Wanna get some 'nummy-num'?" - Yes! She ran to the bowls. This was her first time as a new kitten in the house.

It was a miracle - and we are still living it. It has been now been over 8 years later now since her new incarnation.

A New Milestone

GOOGIE'S GRITS:
"Ah'm on a butt-slapping basis with big Bella now.
She walks in front of me at dinner tame, and Ah follow right behind and raise mah beeg whate one and tap her on that big New York butt. No fuss, no muss, she don't even look back.
Ah can only get away with it while she's preoccupied with food.. "

The Hunter Became The Hunted

KATIE KITTY:
" I am currently in kooky, apeshit mode - yowling out a loud, annoyed battle-cry, as if something is stuck on my butt - and then zooming across the room.
After zipping across a couple times, it got crazy Baby's attention. I became his target in spite of my power-battle cries. And then I had to flee and zoom even faster just to get away from him..
Someone caught onto my game and I became the hunted! MEOWWWL !! "

A Kissing And A-Dissing

DEPUTY B-BIPPY:
"I lowered my head to miss Katie to kiss it. That was during the time when we all were gathered around mom on her bed and it is our quiet, loving time. So I lowered my head to her, begging for a 'kiss-kiss' - and Katie, she gave it to me, she licked me right above my eyes.
And then later? When she went into the cat bathroom? I shut the door behind her, hahah!!!
Unfortunately, my prank didn't work cause mom was sitting on the other end of the couch behind me.. Darn it, I forgot about that. It wasn't like.. what I did to grandma Bella the other night when I shut the door on her too upstairs - no one caught me back then. "

Not With The Little Punk

GOOGIE'S GRITS
"Ah got a 'take the high road' policy, even when mah deputy Baby overreaches and gets bigger than his britches.
See lake, tonate: He thought he was gonna get on the bandwagon with mom just cause he heard her call me out from across the room to "stop that" while Ah dug mah claws in the carpet. Baby took it to heart that it was his deputy job to come after ME and twist his neck at his own DADDY.
He done jump me and threw me off mah balance and Ah fell to the floor...
At first, Ah thought he was just being his obnoxious playful self but when Ah tried to get up, Ah saw him twisting his neck at me. Mand you, this was right after momma done call me out... Whah, he downright stopped mah clawing !
Ah can't have that..Even when Baby jumps me Ah rolled over and booked on outta the way, see. Ain't gonna pick a fight with the little punk."

The Wrong "Skins"

LITTLE GETTY'S WORLD:
"Mom lady did things out of turn this morning and I was the first and only to vocalize my objections.
She looked like she was about to leave with the wrong skins on! Can you believe that. We gathered near her and just watched as she bumbled around in disarray, none of it made any sense.
"Ah-wooohhh..", my mouth trembled quietly.. I was not trying to be obnoxious - so I uttered my objection quietly while looking right at her.
I be the speaker of the whole group, see. "

Talking Back

BIG BELLA:
"It's just our way: When she talks to us - we answer.
It's our custom. We don't miss a beat. Me and the young minx, Katie Kitty - we do that. We're always ready to respond to whatever mom says to us.
Well… except if she calls me "ninny" or .. "fat" catgod forbid. But she doesn't do that anymore, I've trained her."

A Trusted Confidante

BIG BELLA:
"My special time with mom gets even more special when we lay close together on the beddie and then we suddenly hear some commotion among the young ones from downstairs.
We both look on while somepawdy's screaming wildly, wondering what is going on down there with Katie Kitty and that crazy baby, and little Getty. I get a concerned look in my face while wondering if I should jump down.
And then mom turns to face me and says in a confidential whisper:
"They're all pretty crazy...They're not like you, my beautiful cat ..."
At that, I can't help but purr out loud. It feels good to have her confidence. "

Campy Cat

LITTLE GETTY'S WORLD:
"I decided to break camp up in one of mom lady's closets. However, it appeared that camp's cancelled soon as she showed up and saw me trying to comfy myself on top of all her fallen sweaters on the floor. The "what happened here??!" sound was made, unfortunately.
On other matters, I lunged for Daddy's throat and face earlier while we were snuggled on the chair.. He wanted to shift and I didn't want to risk him leaving me.
One look from mom lady and I felt I had to jump off the chair anyway. "
Poor Daddy just ...shrugged it off and fell back asleep.
