PRINCESS's STORY

"The Princess Diaries" began about fourteen years ago as emails to cat loving friends. They were stories about Princess's diary, a tabby cat who was born in 1989 when I rescued her. She was about four months old. She was in tune with everything I did or even think, she always amazed me so much, I just had to write about her. After nineteen years with me, she
went to the Rainbow Bridge in August of 2008.

The house felt painfully empty after her passing. But I vowed never to replace her. In my heart, she was irreplaceable.
And then I started to see her in my dreams. Suddenly, I remembered one morning that I had seen her back in her healthy form and I was told "she is ready now". I was not sure what that really meant.

Just a couple of days later, I was led to a pet psychic by other people at an Expo event. It was an unplanned, spontaneous occurrence, I had not thought about visiting a pet psychic and did not even have a picture of her that they could use.
Princess' spirit came through the pet psychic who repeated those same words I had heard in the dream: "She is ready" .... to be born again.

How would I find her? How? She said it would be "like a Petsmart, one of those places".

I took it in stride. I still did not want to replace her with any other cat. One day, about 2 months later, I found myself suddenly making a turn off the main road into a Petco I never go to, away from my area. I felt compelled to go in even though I had no other cats to care for. I spotted an adoption fair poster in there... and I heard clearly in my heart and mind the thought that 'you've got to follow up on this - don't let it go'. I did.

I returned for the adoption fair and as I entered, I began to feel like I was in a trance.. I kept looking in cages but could not "feel it". Finally, I came to the end of the cage line and I stood motionless, staring at this tiny tabby baby sleeping on top of a larger orange fluffy kitten. She was less than 2 months old. As I stood there, contemplating my feelings, the orange kitten stood up and came to the front of the cage, reaching out to me with his paw... He let out a meow at me as he saw me take a few steps away, mulling this sight over in my mind. I turned to see this kitten holding out his paw at me, literally meowing for me to come back...

When Princess II came home with Gabriel, she was barely 2 months old. And she knew. She knew all the old tricks and phrases - and she wanted to show me exactly what she knew.
She was born in the same type of body, a tabby.

I could not tell while she was a tiny baby but she grew to have the same type of bow-legged look to her hind legs. She also carried the same fear. Princess was fearful of the scrunchy sound of plastic or paper bags all throughout her life with me, it may have been something that had happened to her in her first 4 months of life before I rescued her. She also had a herniated belly when I found her in 1989. Now this new kitten, as she grew, had a slight protruding feel on the same spot of her belly, although vets did not detect anything 'wrong' with it.

To this day, the new Princess is still fearful of scrunchy bag sounds while no other cat in the household is.
"It's time for beddie bye now", I said when she returned to the house as a two-month old - and on cue, she climbed up the stairs immediately and looked down at me from upstairs for my reaction. I was just floored ...this little kitten responded to a phrase she never heard of before. "Wanna get some 'nummy-num'?" - Yes! She ran to the bowls. This was her first time as a new kitten in the house.

It was a miracle - and we are still living it. It has been now been over 8 years later now since her new incarnation.

Bella's Disdain

SENIOR MOMMACAT DOES NOT APPROVE OF MOM'S HORSEPLAY

"I was just watching mom get ready to leave.. I had relinquished my favorite spot to brat-baby Getty.. who was laying on it as mom passed her by to go down. But all of a sudden, I watched mom tease Getty with her sock, waving it in front of her face and jeering her along.. Baby Getty didn't know what to do .. She tried to smell the sock.. then she stood up and awkwardly backed out and almost hit that white column... She gets very awkward at these things..

So I'm watching this whole awkward scene, mom making these strange noises at Geety, and I'm not happy. After all, it was all going down on MY turf, that was MY scratch post that I gave up. I turned my head away and flapped my ears down in no uncertain terms.

It all was just not making any sense for me, and I know little Getty is still a psycho who should not be teased. "

Pink Posh Pad And The Pecking Order

BELLA:

"I was lounging by my favorite spot next to my scratch post when my eye caught a scene in-progress across the room.  I sat up alert to watch this improbable spectacle unfolding:   Baby (psycho) Getty, approaching brat-cat Katie Kitty who was already on top of the pink beddie.  THE new pink beddie on the chair.

I watched baby-Getty stand next to the chair as she looked up at Katie Kitty, giving her the eye, letting her know that this was her beddie through her stare and trying to use Googie's standing with her to get her to give up the pink beddie.   "I have rights to this bed, miss... If you don't let me have it, I will tell daddy-Googie.. And I know him a lot longer than YOU do... "

Katie Kitty seemed a bit startled at this news and just looked at her surprised.

Well, I had had enough:  First, this little skittish babe took over MY scratchpost right in front of me, and took full advantage of the fact that "daddy Googie" was lounging right behind her.  I could not do anything about that so I let  her.. I actually LET her hang out by MY post.   And now, this.. Now just because she wants the new pink beddie she thinks she can go over to brat-cat and get it.   Oh, no.  I sprinted over to her at once and chased her out of there in short order.   We ended up by the corner of the dining room where I had a few words with her as she sat scooting there listening to me and my quiet warnings as we looked at each other.

"Look here, missy:   You don't just grab whatever it is what you want around here, you get that?   Enough is enough tonight with you.  I'M the one who gets this beddie and even I do not try to throw Katie Kitty out of it.  "

I believe my message got through.   "

Nurse Getty

LITTLE GETTY'S WORLD:

" I went into high-alert mode late last night: I heard mom lady scream out loud upstairs in her room and I ran towards her room at once. I stuck my neck in and meowed out loud. "What happened? Is everything okay??".. I needed to know.

She got up and walked past me, as I stood there looking at her for a sign. I would not run in this particular case no matter how skittish I usually am. I looked over and daddy-Googie was in the room, looking relaxed.

"It's okay.. I'm okay..", I heard her say to me. I relaxed my body to the floor upon hearing that. Thank goodness.. "

Do You See ME Do That?

BELLA (on upper left of pic):

"Here I was, enjoying my time after dinner, next to my beloved scratch post... laying belly up, all four paws up in the air .. And I'm rolling back and forth occassionally, chin-rubbing the post and what not.. And then I see miss Priss out of the corner of my eye.  Standing there, staring at me.  And not just staring - she was standing there motionless, regarding me with all the disdain a true prude like her could muster.

"Look at you... how can you just sit around like that with your paws spread out all over like that? ", she glanced over at me.    "Do you see ME doing that?  Ever?",  she continued to challenge me.

I snapped out of my bliss and rolled over.   I was pissed now.   "Hey look, MISSY!  Just because you don't know you to live!", I shot back with my angry eyes, my ears starting to point toward her.  She did not bat an eye.

"DON'T YOU LOOK AT ME like that, you hear?!!",  now I stared and stalked, lowering my chin to the floor, ready to pounce.

She was lucky I gave it up at the last minute, is all I can tell you.  "

Googie's Evolution

GOOGIE'S EVOLUTION:

"Mom went out the door the other day.. And then she looked through, I could see her face from outside.  Ah stood there bah the steps, the others further about the room... Next thang Ah heard was that ring sound.. the "doorbell".   Pipi fled at once upstairs.   But Ah chose not to.  Not this time.  For once, AH was going to stand mah ground even though hearing the bell pushed me to mah limits.

Ah let out a pained cry, my mouth open long enough, you could see mah pinkie tongue and all:   "WHAT is going AWN?!!"  Ah stood there, as mom kept looking at me from the outsade.   Bella was behand me somewhere, Ah knew that.  She kept watching the whole scene.

Ah did not run.  "

Ah Spy..

GOOGIE

Ah was standing bah mom's side in the keetchen when Ah heard a pleading cry from mah babeh Getty.  At once, my ears pointed in her direction and Ah quickly jumped down from the counter to go find out what was going on.   Ah crossed the dining room and living room.. Ah knew where her little voice was coming from..

She was in the cat bathroom.. And Ah did NAWT want to embarrass or suprise her in there.. Dat's a delicate area for a female to be in.  So instead, Ah slowly walked up to the opening between the door and the door jamb, where dey couldn't see me.. So Ah could SPY a little bit and see if she really needed mah help.

Ah spied them allright.. Pipi had her in a corner.. dey were fighting..   Ah continued to hide behind the door while it was awl going awn.. Until mom came up behand me .. She done ask Pipi to let her go and the fight escalated at that tame to a pattycake war... Mah poor babeh-Getty got pattycaked on her face!

... Ah had to let the ladies sort it out, you understand..

Competing With The ...Laptop!

It's been something I've been doing for quite a while now.. And mom keeps ignoring it but I keep pushing and pushing. You see, I hate to see her all wrapped up into this thing they call her "laptop".. So when she comes into the kitchen and starts to touch it, she acts like nothing else matters.

Well, I just can't stand it! So I soon as she starts looking at it as if there's something really interesting in there that I can't see? I start to jump up on the counter, then on top of the refrigerator, and then all the way up on top of the highest cabinets.

But that's not enough. I start to meow out loud in earnest and jump up and down and make as much noise as I can to get her attention. I won't quit until I get her to turn around every time and see me all the way up top.

Soon as she sees me I meow at her, "SEE ME?!! Yep, I'm all the way up here!!" and then I'll jump back down to the counter and demand more attention....She comes over and hugs me and that's my payoff! He-he!!

I'll keep doing this number over and over until I have her attention more than that 'laptop' thing!

Tips From A Pack Leader

"One of the things I do as the Royal ruler of the pack here is to go around to everybody else's bowls and have a little bit of theirs. I make my rounds this way when they have all long abandoned their noms.

We have an understanding: "You eat all you can, and leave a little bit for me", is my meaning. And so, they do. They eat, then they leave - and I'm the last one, making the rounds eating what they left.

This includes Bella's bowl, Googie's bowl, and most definitely Katie brat-Kitty's."

I Didn't Know...

KATIE KITTY:

"It was really just like any other night.. I was running around doing a little chasing here and there.. Nothing out of the ordinary.   And then I headed toward the kitchen cause that's where miss Pipi was headed towards - and she was my unwilling playmate for the moment.

But I stopped in my tracks.   There she was, stopping in the middle of the place, letting that little psycho Getty rub all over her face.   They were... visiting with each other.   Little Getty was ...actually schmoozing all over miss Pipi - and miss Pipi was accepting it!!

Huh.   I stood there looking at them dumbfounded.  What in the world...

I turned around the walked away slowly in the opposite direction.  I had lost my thrill to chase or play anymore."
